1 pub, 100’s of careful owners.

Earlier this year, we worked alongside Joolz Thompson, the iFarm and the community of Thelnetham, near Diss to save their pub, The White Horse. We evolved their brand identity and crafted a focused communication strategy to rally support.

The response was incredible. Thanks to the generosity and solidarity of locals, they not only met but exceeded their fundraising goal.  But this success wasn’t just about saving a pub; it was about preserving the heart of their community, a vital hub of connection, inclusion, and belonging. This achievement shows what can be accomplished when communities unite for a common cause.

If you have a project you’re passionate about, let’s discuss how we can work together to make a difference.

“As we move forward and face multiple crises together: energy crisis, cost of living, economic shocks, conflict and the climate and ecological emergency, it’s important that we have space to meet and have fun, to celebrate life and enjoy our time together, but also a place where we can focus on and discuss how we build resilience as a community.”

Joolz Thompson from an interview with smileymovement.org

Pubs play a vital role in communities and can help reduce social isolation in several ways:

  • Meeting Place: Pubs are where people gather to socialise and make friends, regardless of age or background.
  • Belonging: Regulars at pubs feel like they belong, creating a strong community bond.
  • Support: Pubs offer informal support for lonely people, providing friendship and comfort.
  • Events: Pubs host fun events that unite people and strengthen community ties.
  • Inclusivity: Pubs welcome everyone, promoting unity and breaking down barriers.
  • Local Economy: Pubs create jobs and support local businesses, helping the community thrive.
  • Well-being: Socialising in pubs is good for mental health, offering relaxation and enjoyment.
