DanceEast
DESIGN | STRATEGY | CREATIVE DIRECTION
DanceEast is a dream client for us. With deep roots in the Arts & Culture sector and experience working with organisations such as Southbank Centre and other leading cultural institutions, we understand both the opportunities and the challenges that come with communicating creativity, accessibility and impact in this space.
Keeping “Move | Be Moved” at the Heart
DanceEast already has a highly recognisable and successful brand identity and the Move | Be Moved message continues to resonate brilliantly across audiences and platforms. Our role has been to evolve that brand for today’s audiences: refining strategy, refreshing the visual language and designing bi-annual programmes that feel fresh and inclusive.
Highlights from the refreshed approach:
- Accessibility first: Designed in line with RNIB Clear Print guidelines to ensure clarity and inclusion.
- Sustainable by design: Reduced print runs supported by a fully interactive digital alternative.
- Smarter tools: Integrated QR codes enable tracking of engagement, bookings and audience interaction.
- Charity spotlight: Greater emphasis on DanceEast’s community programmes and regional impact across Ipswich, Suffolk and the East.
- Dual covers: Move (participation) and Be Moved (performance) receive equal prominence, inviting readers to flip between the two, a subtle nod to the idea of movement itself.
- Clear navigation: Colour-coded sections for Performance, Classes & Workshops and Giving create an intuitive wayfinding.
- Less copy, more emotion: Full-bleed imagery and concise copy open the door for everyone to make dance feel approachable, not exclusive.
- Three-word shorthand: Each performance distilled into three evocative words, offering a quick read on style and tone.
- Joyful brand refresh: A new colour palette and typography system that brings personality and vibrancy.
- Sustainable format: A self-mailer design eliminates the need for envelopes or plastic wrapping.
Like many arts organisations, DanceEast faces the challenge of staying relevant, accessible and environmentally conscious all while nurturing its role in the local and national arts landscape. Together, we’ve explored how its marketing and communications can adapt to these evolving needs.
DanceEast’s community spirit, commitment to sustainability and investment in the future of dance are truly inspiring. Being part of helping them tell that story and ensuring more people feel that dance is for them is exactly the kind of work that excites us.
